In September 2024, many users were surprised to see a new antivirus program, UltraAV, on their computers without any warning. (Source) This software replaced Kaspersky Antivirus, raising concerns that it might be malware. However, UltraAV is a legitimate antivirus product from Pango Group, known for services like Hotspot Shield and UltraVPN.

Kaspersky stopped U.S. operations in June 2024 due to a government ban by the Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS). The ban cited national security concerns, claiming that Kaspersky could be controlled by the Russian government, potentially allowing access to sensitive U.S. data or enabling harmful activities. (Learn more in the official press release)

Kaspersky notified customers about the switch in mid-July, but many users were still caught off guard due to poor communication. UltraAV replaced Kaspersky in mid-September without clear notice that Kaspersky would be uninstalled and replaced by UltraAV. Kaspersky’s forum is full of reports from users stating that they didn’t receive any prior notifications, emails, or any communication at all. (Source)

For those who received the email, this is how it looked:

Users were promised that they would be “getting communications from UltraAV with instructions on how to activate your new account”, but none were received. Check out this forum complaint by Larry (a forum member):

Users’ subscriptions switched to UltraAV, with billing starting again in October 2024 at the same price. Kaspersky had stopped billing U.S. customers in June 2024, and UltraAV kept the same pricing to avoid billing issues.

Why the Sudden Change?

Instead of suddenly leaving the market, Kaspersky sold its U.S. accounts to Pango Group, which took over protecting users. To ensure users remained protected, Pango Group automatically replaced Kaspersky with its UltraAV software.

Although this switch was intended to keep users safe, it made many uneasy. UltraAV was installed with little warning, raising concerns about transparency, consent, and trust.

Some users also had trouble uninstalling UltraAV. In some cases, the software reinstalled itself after restarting the computer, leading to concerns that it might behave like malware.

Is UltraAV Safe?

UltraAV is a legitimate product from Pango Group, but it doesn’t have the well-known reputation of Kaspersky. More importantly, UltraAV has not been reviewed by independent cybersecurity testing groups like AV-Test or AV-Comparatives, which raises doubts about its reliability.

In cybersecurity, certifications and independent tests are essential for building trust. The lack of these evaluations for UltraAV has made users cautious about the new software on their systems.

What Can Users Do?

There are now two main options:

  • Unsubscribe from Kaspersky, delete UltraAV, and install another antivirus program.
  • Keep your subscription and continue using UltraAV.

Personally, I chose to uninstall UltraAV, cancel my subscription, and switch to a different antivirus. If you’re considering doing the same, I’ve created a quick guide to help you through the process.

Step 1. Unsubscribe from UltraAV’s Auto-Renewal

  1. Head to UltraAV’s login page.
  2. Either log in (if you have credentials) or click “Get a one-time login link”.
  3. Once logged in, go to the “Subscriptions” tab and click the “Disable” button under the auto-renewal section.
  4. That’s it! Now we just have to uninstall the antivirus from the computer.

Refer to UltraAV’s detailed guide on how to cancel your subscription if you need more details.

Step 2. Uninstall UltraAV

Note: Make sure to follow the steps mentioned here properly, as it seems like it’s not possible to uninstall the antivirus through the usual Windows Installed Apps section, as highlighted by the user (pearliecreamcheese):

We will use a third-party uninstaller to simplify the process. Many users have reported that Revo Uninstaller and Bulk Crap Uninstaller worked best for them. We’ll show you how to uninstall an application using Bulk Crap Uninstaller, as it’s our personal favorite for being open-source and user-friendly.

  1. Go to the official download page of the BCU program.
  2. Download the application using either FossHub or SourceForge. I personally prefer the portable version, so that’s what I’m going to download.
  3. Once downloaded, you will need to extract the archived file using 7zip or WinRAR.
  4. After extracting, open BCUninstaller.exe to launch the program.
  5. Once it launches, keep pressing continue to finish the setup. This is how it should look after setup is complete:
  6. Now find UltraAV, right-click on it, and press uninstall.
  7. Do the same for Kaspersky, UltraVPN, and any other related programs.
  8. Once all these programs are added to the uninstallation list, keep pressing Continue, then press Begin Uninstallation.

That’s it! This should uninstall any Kaspersky and UltraAV-related programs from your computer.

Step 3. Find an Alternative Anti-Virus Program

Now that UltraAV and Kaspersky are gone, you will need to install another reputable antivirus program to safeguard your computer. For the average user, Windows Defender is sufficient, but if you’re looking for third-party alternatives, we have a complete roundup of some of the best antivirus programs you can install on your computer.

Repairability is a growing concern for the average user. Enthusiasts often dish out hundreds of dollars on new tech and find them unrepairable once something breaks off or the battery dies.

Phone Repair Guru on YouTube recently compared the process of replacing the battery on Samsung’s new Galaxy Buds 3 Pro and Apple’s AirPods Pro. While both use a very similar design and internals, Apple’s approach was, to say the least, extremely unfriendly for repairing.

Apple’s AirPods Pro offer an IPX4 rating whereas the Buds 3 Pro offer IP57. Here, IP57 is a bit more protective as it provides protection against dust and water immersion up to 1m for 30 minutes. Despite this, Samsung’s Buds 3 Pro is much more repairable than Apple’s AirPods Pro, completely negating Apple’s claims:

Designing for repairability

This may not appear as a friendly contest since Apple has released its 2nd Generation AirPods Pro. However, even they suffer from more of the same problems and land another 0/10 in iFixit’s book. Adding insult to injury, their IP54 rating does not protect against water immersion.

Here’s how both devices compare in their disassembly process:

The AirPods Pro: A Gluey Mess

First things first, in order to access the battery, users need to open the AirPods through heating. Using a clamp specifically designed for AirPods, which mind you, also fits the Buds 3 Pro (we wonder why), the glue loosened and the stems came apart, to some extent. But here’s where things start to get worse.

Opening up the AirPods Pro | Phone Repair Guru

Apple’s connectors are so tiny and hard to remove that this repair would be impossible without a special micro soldering station. Here’s our first problem, removing the Bluetooth module’s ribbon cable. The not-so-fun part is that Apple has used glue to keep the ribbon cable in place, to prevent water damage, we presume. One wrong step, and you may end up with a broken pin or cable.

Scrapping the Glue and taking out the ribbon cable | Phone Repair Guru

After a lot of alcohol and heat, the ribbon cable finally came off. Oh don’t worry, it gets even more difficult. Apparently, the entire earpiece is engulfed in some white adhesive, again for water resistance we guess. After that is painstakingly taken off, your next job is to remove the speaker from the battery — by desoldering it.

Removing the glue surrounding the battery and speaker | Phone Repair Guru

Once the speaker and battery have been desoldered, the battery is popped out with a tweezer. It almost feels like this product wasn’t made with repairability in mind. Don’t take our word for it, iFixit gives the AirPods 2 Pro, which is supposed to be an improvement over the originals, a 0/10 in the repairability score.

Personalized spatial audio can give you a great audio experience but can it mute the guilt of wearing unrepairable future e-waste?

iFixit

Desoldering the speaker and battery | Phone Repair Guru

You can imagine how hard it would be to connect the new battery. The repair afterward involved soldering millimeter-wide connections, with zero margin of error, doing everything in reverse, and hoping that these AirPods just work, provided if you didn’t break any connections.

AirPods Pro New Battery | Phone Repair Guru

Over to You Samsung

While we don’t usually compare aesthetics, Samsung’s Galaxy Buds 3 Pro looks awfully inspired by Apple’s AirPods. Not to say that’s a bad thing, especially when they could make Apple rethink their stance on repairability.

The case was rather easy to disassemble. You’re practically a few Phillips screws away from removing the case battery and inserting a new one. The one thing that isn’t easily repairable is the Type-C port which is soldered, one point to Apple for that, but you can make do if you know how to solder.

Galaxy Buds 3 Pro Case Disassembly | Phone Repair Guru

Moving over to the Buds themselves, we hope you remember the steps involved with the AirPods Pro. Let’s compare them against the Buds 3 Pro. Using the same clamp and some heated air, the stems came off partially. The one downside is that the stems are glued together, so when reassembling, you’ll have to glue them back.

The ribbon cable clips out easily, as there is no adhesive involved. Since we’re doing a battery replacement, yes, there will be some desoldering but that’s it. You won’t need a micro soldering station and hands with 100% precision and accuracy to repair these, unlike the AirPods Pro.

Galaxy Buds 3 Pro Disassembled | Phone Repair Guru

On loosening up just 2 solder joints, you can pry the battery open and voilà. If you’re careful and don’t damage the protective layer on the flex cable, this repair could potentially retain Samsung’s advertised IP57 rating.

Galaxy Buds 3 Pro Battery Removal | Phone Repair Guru

Conclusion

Samsung is not exactly renowned for its support of the Right to Repair (1) (2), but it is good to see that its actions may push Apple to do better. If the giants in our industry make devices easier to repair, this paves the way for smaller brands and promotes a repair-friendly ecosystem.

Do you believe Apple’s next-generation AirPods will improve repairability? Moreover, how long will it take until we see mobile phones with swappable batteries like in the good old days? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below.

Over the past few weeks, MrBeast aka Jimmy Donaldson has been surrounded by controversies. This wave of drama started with Ava Kris Tyson who had been accused of grooming minors and even sending inappropriate texts to a 13-year-old. Old clips of MrBeast saying racial slurs and sexual talks also resurfaced but at that time MrBeast was just a 17-year-old kid who didn’t know how much influence he had.

But the Internet didn’t just stop there. In a recent video published by DogPack404, a former MrBeast employee, he accuses him of rigging videos, running fake lotteries, doing false advertisements, and more. DogPack also shows evidence for this behavior and says all this is intentional and not a mistake. You can check out the full video below:

Just as MrBeast is Already Under the Pile

With everything MrBeast has been facing, this video seems to drop just as when this drama is at its peak, coincidence? At the beginning of the video, the creator adds a post clip where he says “I recorded this before the Kris stuff came out” and he was going to make a video on that as well.

To add to that, the hour-long video features several edits which would mean that the video was in the pipeline for 2-3 weeks. After everything started to unfold, the creator must have rushed the process to publish the video as soon as possible so it doesn’t look like a way to grab views. To support this, the video is not monetized and is for educational purposes only.

Faking Videos

DogPack moves on to show how MrBeast apparently “fakes” his videos and then proceeds to show clips of him using CGI. However, explosions, throwing cars, train crashes, digitally elevated heights, and more help add a sense of cinematic flair to his content and can’t be titled as faking videos.

On the contrary, the video shows a clip from one of MrBeast’s videos where they appear to be stranded at sea, which does seem scripted. In the clip, the beds where MrBeast and his friends are supposed to be sleeping, but for a moment, the tent cover blows open, revealing the beds are empty. After a cut, five people magically appear in the tent and are seen coming out.

Rigging Challenges and Planting Contestants

In one of the challenges “100 Boys vs 100 Girls For $500,000,” MrBeast repeatedly calls the contestants random. But some of the contestants on the girls’ side featured Jimmy’s hiring manager, recruiting coordinator, and even his girlfriend.

However, according to a short-term MrBeast employee, MrBeast didn’t have enough girls and that’s why a few members of the crew stepped in to balance the teams. The employee also says that the results of these videos were scripted and that it would be a “PR problem” if the boys won by a lot.

Rigging results

On the subject of fake contestants, DogPack also says that almost none of the contestants are random and most are either employees or friends and family of the people with MrBeast. He adds that most of the contestants are usually “in the industry, media-trained, and built a following“. Rosanna Pansino talks about rigged results in MrBeast’s videos in the H3 Podcast Highlights.

In the Creator Games hide-and-seek video, they had an approximate location of everyone and the winner broke the rules but was not eliminated.

Rosanna Pansino

Exposing Mac Hopkin’s Real Identity

Mac Hopkins is one of the newest editions in the MrBeast crew whom people have been calling the “Old Chris“. However, Mac isn’t just a random guy. Mac Hopkins was formerly affiliated with Airrack — an American YouTuber known for his pranks and challenges. This means that was also media trained, knew how to act on camera, and was already known in the industry.

Before his appearance in the “World’s Most Dangerous Trap” video, DogPack shows that Mac moved from California to Greenville North Carolina where Jimmy lives. Mac did his relocation back in August 2023, two months before the video went live in October 2023. On top of that, Mac allegedly moved to a “Million Dollar Mansion” which included a movie theater and 7 bathrooms.

Mac Hopkins appears in old MrBeast video

And that’s not it. Mac Hopkins has previously also appeared in MrBeast’s “Last To Leave Circle Wins $500,000” video. In fact, he turned out to be the first person to leave the circle and proceeded to win a brand-new car. In a video with, Tyler Blanchard, Mac was asked on several occasions what he does for work and his source of income to which he doesn’t give a proper response and dodges the question.

Illegal Lotteries and Fake Signatures

According to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), a lottery consists of three main elements; a valuable prize, random chance, and payment. To run a legal lottery, you must eliminate one of these three factors. According to DogPacks, MrBeast’s lotteries don’t follow these laws and target children to make purchases to get a chance to win a prize.

These “lottery live streams” also had shady practices where they didn’t give the prize in the original time frame and kept changing the rules. One thing to note here is that these live streams date back to when MrBeast hit 40 million subscribers, during a time when “fake giveaways” by subscribing to channels were everywhere on YouTube.

Tyler using MrBeast’s signature

After that DogPack talks about how other members of the crew were using MrBeast’s signature. In one clip, Tyler, a member of MrBeast’s crew, is seen signing “MB,” MrBeast’s signature, on a T-shirt. He then adds his signature and quickly moves the T-shirt out of the frame. This puts into question the authenticity of MrBeast’s signed merch and whether the person behind these signs is him or not.

Are Feastables Really Healthy?

DogPack’s video also shows how MrBeast’s chocolate brand “Feastables” promotes false advertising by calling it “infinitely healthier” than other chocolate brands out there. Back when Festables was introduced the whole “only 5 ingredients” and “no processed ingredients” was true but that’s not the case anymore. When compared to a Hershey’s chocolate bar, Feastables contains more sugar and has 100 more calories.

Feastables compared with Hershey’s

DogPack also questions some of the advertising tactics for Feastables, including the use of gambling games. However, there is limited evidence to determine whether these games required any payment from customers or if they were simply a marketing strategy to attract more customers by offering free rewards. All of this is no more on the official Feastable’s website anymore.

Gambling or Marketing?

The Drama Continues

In the last few seconds, DogPack added an old video of MrBeast of what seems like a scripted giveaway. However, MrBeast has already addressed this clip, stating, “The clip was real, and the man did receive the money. However, his original reaction wasn’t good enough to attract viewership“. Since gaining attention for views is crucial for someone starting on YouTube, he asked him to redo his reaction to make it more dramatic and that’s pretty much there is to it.

It appears that DogPack plans to release another part of this video. While many of the claims are based on older content, the video highlights how information on the Internet can be manipulated and fabricated. MrBeast hasn’t officially addressed this video yet but rest assured we will update you as new things pop up.

Not too long ago, Microsoft announced that it’ll natively be supporting Android apps on Windows. While that ambition was short-lived, it did give users a bit of a glimpse into what a tightly knit, integrated ecosystem on Windows could look like, if it weren’t for Microsoft’s tenuous agreement with Google.

Although native support for Android apps may’ve been axed, there are third-party workarounds, which is what this guide will delve into. It’ll explain the idea and working behind bringing Android to Windows and subsequently detail the methodology for installing Windows Subsystem for Android via alternate modified packages.

What is Windows Subsystem for Android?

The Windows Subsystem for Android (WSA), more commonly referred to as the “Amazon Appstore on Windows,” sought to bring native Android functionality to Windows. It allowed Android apps to run on Windows without an external emulator.

While the ARM vs. x86 debacle made it hard for Android to find the same performance gaps on x86 as it did on mobile devices, WSA ran apps on an ARM emulator provided by Intel Bridge Technology. For Windows on ARM devices, these apps ran natively.

Windows Subsystem for Android

WSA didn’t just run an emulator; it allowed a limited selection of Android apps on the Amazon Appstore to behave like actual Windows apps. These apps had their own icons, ran in separate Windows, and were miles ahead of traditional emulators when it came to raw performance.

With such a cohesive environment, WSA not only provoked the thought of Windows challenging Apple’s ecosystem but also the idea that the benefits of knitting together two of the most popular operating systems would be endless. However, it didn’t last long.

↪ End of Support

If you head on over to Microsoft’s official webpage for WSA, you’ll find a disclaimer citing Microsoft decision to pull the plug on WSA. The support for native Android functionality on Windows is being deprecated, and new users will no longer be eligible to use the service.

Why Isn’t WSA Officially Available?

In March 2024, Microsoft announced that WSA, and subsequently all games and apps that used the service, would be shelved. Older users will continue to receive support till March 5, 2025, but the rest, unfortunately, won’t be able to use the service.

For this reason, many independent developers have taken it upon themselves to release modified packages for WSA. Keep in mind, though, that Appuals strictly condones piracy. This article is published solely to educate and inform the public, and not to encourage or facilitate any unauthorized use of deprecated WSA builds.

Install WSA via Modified Packages

The original release of WSA did not come with the Google Play Store. Instead, it solely relied on the limited selection of apps on Amazon’s Appstore. However, the community has developed workarounds that allow users to sideload and install the Play Store using Google Apps (GAPPS) via Magisk.

The section below will procedurally outline steps to install WSA on any Windows machine, with the Play Store included.

1) Get WSABuilds from GitHub

WSABuilds is essentially a GitHub repository by MustardChef, which allows you to install pre-built and pre-modded versions of WSA complete with root access. The repository contains download links to Windows 10 and Windows 11 versions, each for ARM and x86 processors, too.

WSABuilds on GitHub

Simply, head on to the website and download the appropriate version of WSA. The same page also contains instructions to uninstall or update the installed version on your PC. The project is in active development and has a dedicated Discord server for frequent updates and sharing bug reports.

2) Select the Appropriate WSA Version

For each release of WSA, the repository contains multiple versions, each with a different set of pre-loaded functionality. For instance, you could download the base version with or without the Amazon Appstore. Likewise, you have the option to choose to remove or keep the modded Play Store along with root access.

WSABuilds Release Versions

3) Install the Windows Subsystem for Android

The downloaded file will be compressed in a .zip format, which will need to be extracted via a file archiver tool such as 7-Zip or WinRAR. It’ll extract the main WSA folder where you’ll find all necessary files for installation.

Click “Run.bat” to initiate the installation process

Within the folder, locate the “Run.batbatch file, which itself will initiate the installation process. you may see a Command Prompt or Windows PowerShell window pop-up with the “MagiskonWindows” tile. This will install the app, and once done, launch WSA.

Clicking “Run.bat’ will open up a Windows PowerShell window

4) Set-up Google Play Store

Once the installation process is complete, both WSA and the Google Play Store will automatically open on your screen. To set up the Play Store, simply enter your Google account credentials. This will log you into the Play Store and allow you to download and install any Android apps you want on your device via WSA.

Setting Up Google Play Store on WSA

Conclusion

Microsoft has pulled the plug on supporting Android apps natively on Windows, in that Windows Subsystem for Android will be deprecated by the next year. This puts developers and users who’ve developed a connection to the service in a spot where they have to leverage community-driven services, and third-party packages to go on running WSA on their machines.

At this point in time, there is no mention of whether or not the WSABuilds will continue to function even after the deprecation timeline, but with active development on the project, and more demand soaring in for third-party WSA packages, it’ll not be long before the maintainers push out a statement addressing these concerns.

FAQs

Will WSABuilds continue to function after March 5, 2025?

Since WSABuilds’ releases are based on pre-built WSA versions, it is highly unlikely that the app would not work after the end of support. However, the same couldn’t be said for the Android apps themselves, that’ll surely be shelved for good.

Is it Safe to Get WSA with Magisk?

Since the Google Play Store wasn’t included in initial WSA builds, you need Magisk to allow sideloading and subsequently flash the Google Play Store separately. All of this happens during the installation process automatically, so you don’t have to do anything by yourself.

Is there any way to get WSA officially via Microsoft?

Microsoft has canned the WSA project, and so the company isn’t allowing new users to enter the service. Old users are also given a year-long deadline to shift elsewhere after which the support for the project would end entirely.

A newly discovered Facebook bug has exposed private photos of nearly 6.8 million users. From September 12th to September 25th, the bug caused some third-party apps to gain access to several private user photos. Today, Facebook announced that they have fixed the bug and detailed the event in a blog post.

“We believe this may have affected up to 6.8 million users and up to 1,500 apps built by 876 developers,” explains the company. “The only apps affected by this bug were ones that Facebook approved to access the photos API and that individuals had authorized to access their photos.”

Bug

As long as the user permits it, Facebook allows third-party apps to access their timeline photos. As a result of the bug, third-party apps were able to access non-public photos without permission. Facebook says that developers were able to access other photos, such as those shared on Marketplace or Facebook Stories. Photos uploaded to Facebook that weren’t posted are stored on the site, and as such, they were also impacted.

Facebook is apologizing and is taking steps to alleviate the damages by urging users to delete affected photos.

“We’re sorry this happened. Early next week we will be rolling out tools for app developers that will allow them to determine which people using their app might be impacted by this bug. We will be working with those developers to delete the photos from impacted users.”

If you see an alert on your Facebook profile, it means that you might be one of the impacted users, and should follow Facebook’s instructions to delete the affected photos. The developers have also recommended all users to double check which apps have access to their photos.

Over the past few months, there has been a significant rise in data breaches, and Facebook has been in the spotlight more than once.

On July 19, 2024, a faulty update from CrowdStrike, a cybersecurity company used by many critical infrastructure sectors, caused numerous Windows PCs to experience the infamous ‘Blue Screen of Death (BSOD)’. The issue was caused by a faulty patch introducing incompatibility between a Windows update and CrowdStrike’s Falcon sensor.

This led to widespread system crashes and significant disruptions across important sectors, including airlines, hospitals, banking, and police operators. Since then, Crowdstrike has deployed a fix to address the issue. However, resolving the BSOD requires manual intervention, which involves booting into Safe Mode to delete the problematic “sys driver files” that crash the primary CrowdStrike driver.

Now, how can you resolve this mess? Here are some effective solutions for affected users.

Fixing the BSOD issue | Neowin

1. Perform a System Restore

System Restore, a utility integrated into Windows, allows you to revert your Windows state to a previous restore point. We can use this to revert the changes CrowdStrike caused to our windows restoring your system settings and files to their previously stable condition.

How to use System Restore? Here are the steps:

  1. Power on your computer and immediately long-press the power button to turn it off. Repeat this three times.
  2. After the third restart, you should see ‘Preparing automatic repair‘ along with the Windows loading screen.
    Running the Auto Repair utility
  3. From here, Windows will ask you to “Choose an option“. Here, select the second “Troubleshoot” option.
    Select Troubleshoot
    Select Troubleshoot
  4. Next, Windows will prompt with a message saying “your PC did not start correctly“. Here, instead of restarting it again, press the “Advanced options” button.
    Automatic repair Windows recovery environment
    Press Advanced Options
  5. Once it restarts, you’ll have the Advanced options screen, here select “System Restore“.
    Select System Restore
  6. Select a restore point before the update caused the issue and follow the prompts to complete the restoration.

If this doesn’t resolve your issue or you don’t have a restore point created, don’t fret just yet; we still have other methods that can resolve this issue.

To use System Restore, a restore point is required that was created before the CrowdStrike update was installed on your computer. Otherwise, this method will not work. However, sometimes Windows automatically creates a restore point. If you are lucky enough to have a restore point, you shouldn’t have a problem resolving this issue.

2. Delete the Problematic File

Safe Mode is a recovery state in which Windows starts with only the essential drivers and services, bypassing problematic software that is causing the Blue Screen of Death or other errors. Here, you can safely delete the CrowdStrike driver file called C-00000291.sys which can prevent your system from starting normally.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to this process:

  1. Boot into Advanced options by following the steps explained in the first method. But, this time select the Startup Settings option.
    Accessing the Startup Settings
  2. After your PC restarts, you’ll see a list of options. Press the F4 key (or the key corresponding to “Enable Safe Mode”) to start your computer in Safe Mode.
    Enable Safe Mode

Once successfully in Safe Mode, follow these instructions to delete the problematic file:

  1. Press the search icon in the taskbar, then type ‘Command Prompt‘ or ‘cmd‘ and select ‘Run as administrator.
    Run CMD as administrator
  2. In the Command Prompt type ‘del C:\Windows\System32\drivers\CrowdStrike\C-00000291*.sys’ and press enter.
    Type in the proper command
  3. Reboot your computer and check if the issue is resolved.

Normally, this process should go smoothly. However, if your Windows doesn’t let you delete this file, here are some guides that may help you:

3. Disable the CSAgent Service

Still stuck? This last method will resolve your issue as it disables the “CSAgent” service, a core component of CrowdStrike’s Falcon endpoint protection platform. While it provides security features such as malware detection, threat prevention, and response capabilities, this core component was also afflicted by the faulty update causing the BSOD.

Disabling this service prevents the faulty CrowdStrike component from loading during system startup, allowing the system to boot and operate normally. To disable this service follow these steps:

  1. Boot into Safe Mode using the instructions presented in the second method.
  2. Press Win+R, type “regedit” and hit Enter.
    Hit Enter
  3. This will open Registry Editor. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\CSAgent.
    Follow the path
  4. In the right pane, find the key named “Start“, double-click it, and change its value of 1 with 4.
    Change the value
  5. Get out of Safe Mode by restarting your computer

Wrapping Up

The widespread BSOD issue caused waves on the Internet with people sharing TikToks of hundreds of people waiting for the flights to be rescheduled and baking systems facing severe disruptions. However, as quickly as the issue came, the solutions were also starting to show up just as our article should hopefully help you fix the BSOD issue in no time.
